It has been discussed alot by how G+ helps with SEOing your website, and came to conclusion hat it may have SEO effects, but not by much, just like the decision to chose between <b> and <strong>.

10 out of 21 correct answers? I'm not sure that is considered a coin toss or a prediction. I am sure that there were multiple nominees for each category, say 4. So 21*4 would give you 84 possible winners. Out of 84 possible answers, you got 10 of them right. That is much better than a coin toss. I think that a bit more analysis in your post would go further to proving the point you are trying to make. Any chance of that?

Well in the last 6 months google have made similar developments in other fields also and now with the release of google plus it is just a matter of time when Google will be adding social results in local searches.
The problem with this approach is google is creating a bubble around us which might not contain the sufficient information.
I hope they know what they are doing as a bad step from a company as big as google can really be terrible

Google's decided that if you're likely to buy they will show you a store (overstock in this case) that may interest you. They do make sure that SITE has covered your search keywords but it no longer seems to matter if that PAGE has them. On the other hand if their data tells them you're not a buyer you will see informational sites. The results are not the same when logged in to Google.

I think your example Ted showcases the fact that Google is placing too much weight on transactional searches and is favoring brands or big online retailers more than ever.

The question is will smaller sites take the time to use the word couches and leather in a big enough % of their other articles to compete? Not likely.
